Job Description

A full-time, contract position is available for an ASL-speaking paraprofessional to provide 1:1 support in a K-12 educational setting. This role is located in Groveport, OH, and will span the school year (NSY). The successful candidate will report directly to the Ohio School for the Deaf (OSD).

Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized 1:1 support to students requiring assistance with communication and learning
• Utilize American Sign Language (ASL) proficiently to facilitate effective communication between students and staff
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Monitor student progress and report observations to supervising personnel
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for students with varied needs

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively
• Experience working with children in a K-12 educational environment preferred
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with educators, families, and students
• Patience, adaptability, and commitment to supporting student growth and success
• Understanding of individualized support strategies for diverse learning needs
