This position is classified as union, full-time, hourly, and subject to the current Collective Bargaining Agreement. The position is temporary, and not expected to exceed five (5) months. Should the position cease prior to the five (5) month period, or should an offer of regular employment be made, the selected candidate will be notified in writing.

Summary:

The Audio Visual Specialist II position requires advanced knowledge of research, ability to prepare, produce and edit audio/visual (film or videotape for closed-circuit television/internet protocol television) material for use by the client. Consults with the appropriate field or corporate personnel to determine which of their requirements can best be served by using film, videotape, or digital media. Researches and prepares the material, selects music, sound effects, etc. Serves as the producer once the material is ready for shooting. Leadership responsibilities may be applicable to this position.

Essential Functions:

  • Operates current and future audio and video equipment that records and transmits/routes audio, video and internet signals in support of Army field operations. This includes but is not limited to Mobile Video Units, Mobile After-Action Review vehicles, video teleconferencing suites, Fly Away/LIK kits for mobile internet access, Wimax trailers for digital signal transferring, and theater operations.
  • Edit, dub and degausse/black audio/video tape; editing in the linear and non-linear realms.
  • Operates PC/MAC based computer workstations.
  • Operates theater equipment in support of customer presentations and After-Action Reviews.
  • Assists customers in the development and creation of new projects; communicates via radio to assist field/maintenance personnel; and performs routine user maintenance on equipment.
  • Prepares required documentation in accordance with established procedures; consults with the shift lead for clarification of standard procedures and non-routine customer issues.
  • Uses video cameras to capture/document Army training operations and military ceremonies.
  • Uses standard still cameras, commonly available lighting equipment and related techniques to take photographs which involve limited problems of speed, motion, color contrast, or lighting. Based on clear-cut objectives, determines shutter speeds, lens settings and filters, camera angles, exposure times and type of film.
  • Duties may include filming live fire missions.
  • Requires advanced familiarity with the situation gained from similar past experience to arrange for specific emphasis, balanced lighting, and correction for distortion, etc., as needed.
  • May use professional grade cameras for simple shots such as moving equipment or individuals at work or meetings, where available or simple artificial lighting is used.
  • Consults with supervisor or more experienced Audio Visual Specialists when problems are anticipated or arise.
  • Adheres to Company, Site Manager, Division Manager and Team leader directives, memoranda, policies and procedures.
  • Supports quality/ISO, security and safety training programs and all duties assigned.
  • Requires the ability to safely operate motor vehicles both on and off public roads. May require driving in areas with uneven terrain. May also require driving in black-out conditions utilizing Night Vision Goggles. The safe operation of motor vehicles is an essential requirement of this position.
  • Any other duties required to complete the missions as assigned by the customer in order to fulfill Senspex's contract obligations.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Current California Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL), or willingness to obtain a CDL

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or relevant experience in the audio visual field is highly preferred.

Special Requirements:

  • Obtain and maintain post driving privileges.
  • Obtain and maintain Military Licenses and Night Vision Certification, if required.
  • Willing and able to lift 50 lbs. and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Willing and able to work any shift to include weekends and holidays.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
  • Willing and able to perform duties with travel in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain, etc.) and at height (helicopter travel, mountain tops, elevated walk areas and towers).
  • Willing and able to be cross-utilized to perform duties that are within the skill set of this job description across all domains to meet the needs of the training missions.
  • Must meet and maintain fleet insurability standards.
