About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) to play a pivotal role in the community's development and growth. The successful candidate will be a proactive and purpose-driven leader with a strong background in strategic guidance, structural creation, and the ability to champion the community's ambitions. As the CAO, you will be responsible for leading efforts to enhance social, economic, and cultural development, and ensuring the community continues to thrive and grow. This hands-on leadership position involves overseeing operations and programs in various key areas, including finance, maintenance, human resources, education, social services, health, capital, housing, economic development, and land resource management. The role also requires fostering strong relationships with federal, provincial, and First Nation agencies, and advancing the mission and objectives of the community. Applicants for the CAO position should have a degree in public administration, business, or a related field, and a proven track record of leadership at a senior level. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in strategic leadership, community planning, financial management, and team building, as well as strong mentorship and coaching abilities. Proficiency in people management, conflict resolution, and a results-oriented approach are essential. Cultural competence and an appreciation for indigenous traditions and values, particularly Mi’kmaq, are also required. Experience in project management, policy development, and government relations, as well as the ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations, are important qualifications for this role.
