The Material Handler is responsible for safely handling and staging material for production at the entry end of the paint line. The Material Handler works with overhead cranes, in the raw coil storage area, and all auxiliary equipment. Duties include working from schedules and special instructions, operating an overhead crane for pulling and staging coils, pulling and staging materials using FIFO method, locating and relocating coils for safe storage and processing, assisting Entry End Operator with unwrapping material, restacking and staging coil areas, ensuring coils have stock numbers on both sides, removing trash and scrap metal, ensuring ample material is staged for the oncoming shift, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, maintaining storage area per specifications, scanning raw pile storage weekly, participating in inventories, assisting in coater clean ups, set ups and roll changes, keeping work area clean and orderly, understanding and complying with Quality and Environmental Management System principles, and communicating daily with Production and Quality Control personnel. Employees must contact plant leadership if unsure about safely correcting an issue. Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, ability to read and comprehend safety and operational documents, basic math skills, reasoning ability to follow instructions and solve problems, forklift and overhead crane operation skills, ability to recognize metal defects, and preferable PC skills. Physical demands include talking, hearing, walking, standing, sitting, handling objects and tools, reaching, climbing, and specific vision abilities.
