Job Description

Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Orthopedic Trauma Specialist, where you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to patients with traumatic musculoskeletal injuries. This position entails both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities, integrating comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, surgical interventions, and postoperative management into patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct patient care through office visits, inpatient management, and surgical procedures, participating in an on-call rotation as required.
  • Execute trauma-related orthopedic surgeries and oversee post-operative recovery.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient interactions and procedures, adhering to proper coding and EHR protocols.
  • Coordinate diagnostic tests, develop treatment plans, and facilitate appropriate referrals to specialists.
  • Train and mentor nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to foster high-quality patient care.
  • Collaborate with department leadership to enhance healthcare delivery quality and efficiency, actively engaging in managed care initiatives.
  • Contribute to the education of residency programs, medical students, and other healthcare learners in an academic environment.
  • Engage in Peer Review Committees and assist in the establishment of clinical care standards.
  • Work alongside the Quality Assurance Coordinator to support compliance with quality assurance initiatives.
  • Partake in efforts to improve productivity, quality, and reduce costs within the department.
  • Complete Age-Specific Competency Training to ensure proficiency in patient care across all age groups.
  • Exhibit a thorough understanding of treatment and care needs for patients of various ages.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • M.D., D.O., or equivalent degree acceptable for New York State licensure.
  • Completion of an Orthopedic Surgery residency with advanced trauma or subspecialty training.

Licensure / Certification Requirements:

  • Current New York State medical license.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Orthopedic Surgery within five years of hire.
  • Ongoing maintenance of continuing medical education and certification.
  • Active credentialing following medical staff bylaws and third-party payer requirements.
