About the Role

Our 6D Geriatric Psych Unit specializes in caring for patients aged 55 and older. This dedicated team is committed to helping patients lead healthier, more productive lives through comprehensive evaluation, treatment, and stabilization. As a Registered Nurse (RN) in this department, you will leverage your nursing skills to enhance care and create a welcoming, healing environment for our patients. You’ll gain invaluable hands-on experience with a unique population and develop expertise in Behavioral Health. Plus, you’ll have opportunities to participate in committees, employee activities, and community services!

Shift Details

This position requires night shifts from 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM or 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM.

Your Responsibilities

As a caregiver in this role, you will:

• Provide direct nursing care to patients.
• Implement, monitor, evaluate, update, and revise patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, document, and communicate patients’ conditions.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
• Carry out physician and nursing orders effectively.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
• Educate patients and their families on care processes.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

• Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
• One year of current acute care RN experience or military RN experience.

Preferred qualifications:

• Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements

In this role, you will need to meet the following physical demands:

• Full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Corrected vision and hearing within normal range.
• Ability to work under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently.
